Release management
Learn about versioning of the Pdftools products and their supported releases.
Versioning
The Pdftools products use semantic versioning. The version is marked as MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH. For example, a product with version 5.1.1 indicates a major version 5, a minor version 1, and a patch version 1.
Release types of the Pdftools products
There are two release types in the Pdftools products:
- Feature release: Receives regular updates with new functionalities and bug fixes. As a result, feature releases get stability improvements, new features, and product advancements.
- Long-term support (LTS) release: Receives regular patches with bug fixes for two years. The LTS release involves extended test and integration processes. As a result, this type of release focuses mostly on long-term stability.

Supported LTS product releases
The following table doesn't intentionally include the third number of the semantic versioning standard. LTS releases only receive patches, meaning the last number is updated with each released patch.
