Sign workflow
This workflow is engineered specifically for signing archived documents without removing the existing signatures.
To learn about specific configuration options, review Configure signature documentation.
The Sign workflow supports these features:
- Digital Signature (mandatory)
Supported file formats for Sign workflow
This workflow supports these file formats:
Content type | File type |
---|---|
PDF formats | PDF/A-1, PDF/A-2, PDF/A-3 |
Non-archival PDF formats are not supported. Use the Archive PDF/A-2 workflow to archive PDF into PDF/A format and sign the documents. You can configure digital signatures in the profile configuration of the Archive PDF/A-2 workflow.
Features and limitations
Compared to the other workflows, this workflow has the following features and limitations:
Sign only
In the Sign workflow it’s manadatory to configure digital signature, otherwise the Conversion Service returns a warning.
Set metadata
The signature is not applied on the PDF metadata section so you can add new signature meanwhile changing the metadata of the document.
In an appropriate PDF reader you can see the previous signed version with the original metadata.
Job and document options for the Sign workflow
The Sign workflow lets you use job and document options to pass job and document-specific values to be used when processing documents using the workflow.
Job and document options you pass at runtime affect only the current job. When you change a setting of the job or document options, that change applies only to the current job. For the next job, the workflow reverts to the profile settings (saved default) unless you pass job or document options again.
Job options
Job options apply to all documents processed in the same job. Any subsequent jobs processed with the workflow profile use the profile’s default settings.
Type | Option | Description |
---|---|---|
Metadata | META.AUTHOR | The author of the document |
Metadata | META.TITLE | The title of the document |
Metadata | META.SUBJECT | The subject of the document |
Metadata | META.KEYWORDS | Keywords that apply to the document |
You can also set extended metadata properties apart from the standard metadata properties.
Document options
Document options apply only to a specific input. It allows you to determine specific properties based on an individual document, rather than as a global setting (determined by the job or the profile). Use the default profile settings for any subsequent jobs processed with the workflow profile.
