Meeting preparation using annotations in 3-Heights® PDF Web Viewer
To avoid creating a specific annotation solution for every app and for the web, the project focused on finding a solution that could be used across all platforms. This solution also needed to be executable using standard web technologies and in a Cordova framework.
Application requirements
CM Informatik AG’s customers wanted to be able to create annotations in PDF documents when preparing for meetings using the CMI meeting preparation application. This task had previously been performed using additional tools.
To avoid creating a specific annotation solution for every app (Android, iOS, UWP) and for the web, the project focused on finding a solution that could be used across all platforms. This solution also needed to be executable using standard web technologies and in a Cordova framework.
Customer benefits
Thanks to the 3-Heights® PDF Web Viewer, end users are able to edit PDF documents directly in the app or browser solution during a meeting, without additional software. The key requirements of the project were fulfilled: the same software can be used across all platforms without alterations. Annotations behave the same across all environments and look identical when accessed using other PDF viewers.
Implementation
The 3-Heights® PDF Web Viewer had to be integrated into the existing CMI solution platform’s meeting preparation tools. Users should be able to edit the PDF document directly during a meeting, whether by commenting, adding a stamp or Post-it note, inserting text or marks, or drawing freehand. The project also involved developing intuitive user guidance that enables the user to make changes via a tablet’s touch function as well as with a mouse.
